Will PRP hurt?

The injection itself is not reported to be painful and should not hurt. However, patients have expressed that after the injection, the area may be sore for about 48 hours. This is considered normal.

Am I a good candidate for PRP therapy?

Dr. Petrychenko will determine that when you come into our office for a consultation. Most good candidates are in good health. Patients who have severe anemia, or low platelet counts are not considered to be good candidates.

How long will PRP injections take to work?

There is no way to pinpoint when you will receive results. Some patients experience relief from their pain right away and others need a bit more time. Each patient is unique, but you can expect to experience improvement in your condition in about six months.

When can I return to my normal activities after a PRP injection?

It depends. If you are treating a joint that will not be used often in your daily activities, you may be able to return right away. However, if you receive a PRP injection in your knee, it would not be recommended that you head out to play golf immediately after. As a general rule, you should allow yourself about three months before you return to any strenuous exercises or activities.
